Ignore The Chicken...
I was going to post yet another rather boring Sunday dinner post of my impending - pictured - roast chicken, roast potatoes [and steamed greens], but hang it. All I can say is that the Trump/Vance sandbagging of President Zelensky in the Oval Office is probably the straw that breaks the camel's back in the USA's relationship with, and standing in, global affairs. I honestly think he and Vance finally screwed the pooch, with the whole world looking on. They blew it. They blew the United States of America's political credibility in the space of an hour's '...great television...'. Trump has also made the egregious mistake of allying himself with Russia, whose economy and influence are on the wane under the weight of their isolationism and internal corruption: a model that Trump seems only too eager to ape.
Anyone with half a brain would see immediately that Russia is pretty much spent economically and influentially, and that the nation to try and win round is China; currently the major player in world trade. In common with his UK reality TV counterpart, [Sir!] Alan Sugar, he seems to be a particularly bad businessman in anything like global terms: more Del-Boy than Carnegie. The UK and Europe is rightly now embracing Ukraine and Zelensky in rather more inviting and certainly more gentlemanly and diplomatic terms than the execrable POTUS and his cabal of madmen have. I'm afraid that the US is in danger of being cut adrift from the world by this lunatic on the mandate of less than half of its voting public. Having friends over there makes this personal to us here in our tiny fastness in North Wales, and I feel for them. They deserve better than these transactional bullies whose every effort flies in the face of the principles of the founding fathers; who themselves fled the tyranny of Trump's Imperialist like two hundred and fifty years ago...
