X Rated

That's it - I've done with Twitter/X: I ditched my account last night, after the morning feed of unquestioning bile and uninformed crap from the digits of [?]: are these people actually people or are they the AI evocations of Musk's evidently venal and dodgy politicking? Who the fuck knows, but real actors or no, there is a lot of dangerously uncritical thinking going on in this most public - albeit vertical - arena. Some of the shit I read yesterday morning really riled me, though; with 'people' comparing the current - apposite and appropriate - judicial responses to those that have recently decided that they could do and say just whatever they wanted to do or say in public - viz the fomentation and execution of the recent racially-motivated riots here in the UK - to some alleged and newly-minted totalitarian state under Keir Starmer's government. I'm at a complete loss with these people's [?] deliberate ignorance of human history and their lack of cogent thinking.

We have always had laws to curb excessive or anti-social behaviour and speech, and by common assent, the vast majority of people want this to be so. Yes, there have been and always will be misuses of power and legislation by corrupt governments - take the recent Tory shambles of an administration as a case in point  - and the only recourse to correct these abuses is through the democratic process, which can and should include the means of peaceful protest. But there seems to be a generation of people who, for whatever reason(s) seem to imagine that their personal space, thought and opinions put them up front and centre of every-thing and every-one: the ultimate expression of Thatcher's deliberately fallacious notion that there is 'no such thing as society...' This in itself was one of the weirdest and misguided political/philosophical utterances imaginable in a post-war era where it was self-evident that it is was exactly that very society which got us through, out of and beyond one of the worst-ever periods of European history. The modus cogitandi that passes for discourse on the likes of X etc., is exactly that which brought the Nazis to power in the 1930s and which led to the Holocaust: the malignant apotheosis of populism, othering and 'patriotism'.

This can be avoided and circumvented, and the future returned to the future rather than to the past, by education. Not indoctrination, but education: teaching critical thinking and the ability to abstract out the significant real from the noise of deliberate, fictive disinformation; to arrive at conclusions based on the accumulation of knowledge, rather than meekly and lazily accepting and parroting the poisonous nudges of dangerous, rich fools like Musk, and low-life shit-stirrers like Nigel Farage, Andrew Tate and Tommy Robinson: all of whom have personal agendas they want the rest of us to foster and nurture. I'm done with it. I just hope many more will follow; there's no reformation of X possible now, and absolutely no hope of recreating any sense of balance on the platform: the algorithms and Musk have seen to that. The best course of action is to leave the shit-hole to the shitty. It will soon wither and die as its revenues dry up, and its acolytes get bored and leave too, having no-one left to offend or feed the fire of their misdirected angst...
