Judge Not

So, the ridiculous Rwanda saga drags on, with the rushed-through-the-system-attempt-to-circumvent-international-law bill passing to the next stage, despite widespread Tory rebellion - read abstention, the hedge-funder's option - and near unanimous opposition party disapproval. Pictured, the Climate Minister, Graham Stuart, who made a 7,000-mile round-trip from the COP28 conference, just to vote in the divisions over the bill. I guess that some things are just more important than the future of the planet, eh, Stu? Ah, the joys of a cowardly back bench and a massive parliamentary majority; and a minister so committed to the niceties of his ministerial mandate that he is willing to shit all over it for the sake of supporting yet another batshit [official parliamentary term] mad Tory government policy. Nice.

Unfortunately, I missed the allegedly vile, utterly vitriolic and violently poisonous contributions of a couple of the more barking Tory members, earlier in the debate: I switched on when I got home, late afternoon. I would so have liked to scream foul epithets at the the TV, but I guess I will have to wait for the social media catchup later on to see and hear what transpired and throw my phone around the room instead. These people [and the rest of us] would seriously benefit from listening to those far wiser than they. This bill seeks to further judge and penalise the victims of injustice, as blameful of a crime uncommitted. Judgement without due cause. Sounds kind of Old Testament to me. I ain't a practising Christian any more, unlike so many of the Tory party who profess piety as a kind of virtue-signal; but some stuff from the Bible, as from the Qur'an, Torah and many other texts sacred to many, makes a whole lot of sense when taken properly in context. I quote from Matthew 7, verses 1-3:

7
1. Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

  1. ALL those bat-shit "religious" text have been taken up in the juvinile game of "My God's got a bigger one than you" game that is STILL costing millions of lives! There is NO one god we've ALL got our own! Church & ALL religions are power structures to enslave their believers!

    1. '...when taken properly in context...' The religion(s) might be suspect, but the words and the philosophical point they make are sound...
