Wherefore Youth?

Your Humble Author, somewhat younger...

I can't remember exactly the year these were taken, but at a guess around 1970, in Clive's front room in Laxey Road. In the picture below is Mr. Hill himself, a-tuning his instrument, the Hofner bass that came from a secondhand shop at not a great deal of money and was first heard amplified through our old mono radiogram by my disconnecting the leads from the tone-arm and taping wires to connect to the lead on the bass - happy bloody days and so much to look forward to...

  1. What a good shot of your pre-broken wrist mate! I still feel a bit guilty for getting Suze to help us takedown the Zip Tower (she's was & is still not "practical" in the ways of structures!!!) after the first TRUE Multi-media gig with UB40 all those years ago! Not a single enquiry for us to replicate/improve what is now standard fucking stage-craft! Bit like the Plasma displays that we trucked all over England & Wales: HUGELY impressive, great feedback from potential customers but NO sales. I did a demo of CadMan in the basement of the Celtic Royal to an audience of Public Sector and Private Businesses and one of the wonks from Gwynedd "Business" Unit ACTUALLY got me to fill in his spread-sheet with MY rates and the time I'd "invested" in the presentation so that THEY could claim it for E.U., match funding!!! Such was and IS the way that E.U., funds are pillaged for White Elephant projects; CAST, Bryn Cegin Industrial Estate & so many, many more:(

  2. It was in my front room not that I remember this being taken. A regular spot for us to make noise. It was definitely earlier than 1970, Perhaps early 1969. My hair was past my shoulders by 1970! (Clive the bass player).

    1. I thought your hair looked short - I didn't mine got that long until about 1970, but memory is what it is - nice to hear from you, Clive!

    1. Glad to see you are well. All fine here, except for Anthea as you no doubt know but she is as good as she can be. Take care.
