Alun Owen o Fethesda

Although I finished work in early August, I'm still on the Openreach payroll and even if this were not the case, the news yesterday of the death of a workmate feels deeply personal as the loss of a teammate always does. He was a local lad, Alun Owen; Al Bonc to all who knew him. That he was a Bethesda lad makes it doubly personal; there is a strong community here that feels the hurt when something appalling like this happens to one of our own. He was drowned in the Afon Aber on Tuesday afternoon, after falling into the river, still badly swollen by the weekend rains, whilst working nearby. He was a lovely bloke and tragically leaves behind a young wife and family.
